STPM Baharu In Depth - Further Maths

Image
This article is an introduction of the subject Further Mathematics in STPM Baharu by a friend of mine. In Form 6, there are very few people that take up Further Maths and I am really lucky to have a friend who took this subject and is willing to share his experience in this subject. Well, read on! Overall STPM FM is introduced for those who has intense interest in math and wish to challenge themselves in STPM. It can be only be taken with Maths (T). Being a 100% written test, you don’t have to do any assignment or project. Since there are less than 30 candidate taking it each year, there are no any reference book selling in the market and no teacher teaching it in school (as far as I know). You can only learn it by yourself or going for tuition. The reference book recommended by MPM is hardly found in normal bookstore. You may order it from MPM or online but they are really expensive (each book cost about RM 200) and you may need 4 different books for the whole STPM. Most of u

STPM Baharu In Depth - Biology (written by Wai Kent Ng)

This is an introduction of the subject Biology written by my friend, Ng Wai Kent. Wai Kent is one of the top student in CHS that have been achieving fantastic results academically. Also a cheerful and ongoing person in life, his tips in Biology will surely help you in your studies in Form 6! Read it here: Hopefully this brief introduction may give you some ideas while choosing Physics or Biology or both for your STPM. FIRST TERM: Biological Molecules and Metabolism Basically, you are going to revise on what you have learnt in SPM Biology.  You have learnt water, lipids, carbohydrates, cellular components, plasma membrane, enzymes, respiration and photosynthesis when you were in SPM, didn’t you? In additon to this, you are going to learn about eukaryotes and prokaryotes, induced fit hypothesis for enzyme reaction (which differs slightly from lock-and-key), Michaelis-Menten constant for an enzyme-catalysed reaction. The most ‘exciting’ part of this term is all about rememberin

STPM Baharu In Depth - Chemistry (written by Li Tian Low)

This is an introduction of the subject Chemistry in STPM Baharu by my friend Low Li Tian, read on and you will get an idea of what you'll be learning for this subject in Form 6!   Okay , so I’ll start off with chem sem 1 first. Term 1 we’ll be studying about Physical Chemistry , well I personally didn’t like physical chem that’s why I didn’t have much “memories” bout it. Well, through this physical chem, u’ll be studying about electronic Structure of Atoms, chemical bonding , states of matter , reaction kinetics & equilibrium. Chapters about electronic structure of atom & chemical bonding r quite interesting but not for equilibrium (just my opinion). Overall , term 1 chemistry was quite easy , no memorizing work ,u just have to understand the concept. Eg:  phase diagram for a single-component material, exhibiting solid, liquid and gaseous phases Term 2: Inorganic Chemistry . The first 2 chapters r about chemical energetics & electrochemistry .

STPM Baharu In Depth - Physics (written by De Jun Yong)

This is a in depth, or I would say a personal experience of my friend, Yong De Jun in studying Physics in Form 6: I would say Form 6 physics is very much different compared to SPM physics. What we learn in SPM is just tip of the iceberg, while Form 6 physics provides you a much more in depth knowledge of physics. I not sure about the A-levels syllabus but I think both Form 6 and A-levels physics syllabus are quite identical. Besides, I can say that the STPM Baharu physics is less challenging as compared to the previous one because you need not to memorize all the formulae and concepts at once and “vomit” it out during the exam. Personally, I think that Form 6 physics is still manageable as long as you pay attention is class and do your homework or maybe try to do some extra exercises because all these can help you to understand the application of formulae and concepts much better. Practice makes perfect, I know is kind of old fashioned to say this but this is definitely appli

STPM Baharu: Why Should and Why Shouldn't You Choose Form 6.

Image
This is a short article that writes about whether you should choose Form 6 as a Pre-U or whether Form 6 is suitable for you. Ultimately, this is my personal preference and the decision is definitely up to you yourself. Why Form 6? Doing STPM is definitely one of the most financial-friendly Pre-U that you can find in Malaysia. Not only it saves a lot when you are in Pre-U, it'll further saves more when you proceed to a public university for your degree study. A random degree in private universities would have cost you RM60,000 to RM200,000 but even the most expensive degree in local public university is just roughly RM13,000 (as of year 2011/12). Yeah I believe you can do some simple calculation and find out how much you can save. Doing Form 6 means you'll spend another 1.5 years in a secondary school , but you are doing your Pre-U. Well, some actually dislike the idea of getting back to school for Pre-U but hey it is actually kinda fun! Trust me, everything will de

STPM Baharu : Form 6 in CHS

Image
Alright, this is basically an article specially for CHS-ians/PJ students who wanna pursue Form 6 in SMJK Katholik, PJ. Yeah, CHS is one of the secondary school in PJ that provides Form 6 classes to the students. Some other schools that provide Form 6 classes in PJ are SMK La Salle and SMK Sultan Abdul Samad, but I'll just focus on writing about Form 6 in CHS, which is, the place where I had been studying for 7 years (yeah, hahaha wow). Brief Introduction of CHS First of all, a brief introduction for non-CHS-ians. CHS a.k.a SMJK Katholik is a semi-government school located in Jalan Gasing, PJ. CHS is a school with a long history, and a school with some really different environment and cultures compared to the other schools. Well, one very obvious (and great) difference when compared to the other schools is it's canteen. CHS-ians are actually spoiled with varieties of food when compared to many schools out there. From Chinese cuisine, Malay cuisine and Indian cuisine, we
